FAQs

At what age can my student start attending?
  • We work with students aged four and up who are able to focus for 10-15 minutes.
How many times a week will my student come to the center and for how long is each visit?
  • Most students attend twice a week for center visits and complete Gideon assignments at home the other days. However, you can come once a week or request extra classes for an additional fee.
  • Each center visit is typically 30 minutes per subject to do individual daily assignments, complete any old corrections, and review new material. A Gideon instructor will be at the table with the students to assist as needed. Most students will be seated with a 3:1 student to teacher ratio.
What level of work will my student be doing?
  • During the free placement evaluation, we will find a ‘just right’ point in the Gideon curriculum based on what skills your student shows as mastered in order to fill any holes and gaps in his foundation.   • Our goal is to build confidence through mastery with progress right from the start to encourage focus and concentration.
Does Gideon work with students with learning differences such as dyslexia?
  • Yes, the Gideon program works well for most students, including those with learning differences. While school must continue on its schedule, we have the luxury of time to allow the student to set the pace and do any extra practice needed to truly master each level. If your student has dyslexia, read THIS to find out why Gideon is a good solution.
Does Gideon work with students with special needs such as autism?
  • Yes, the Gideon program works with many special needs students. We can evaluate further if Gideon is a good fit when we meet your student during the free placement evaluation.

Here is my experience …, before joining Gideon, my son was not doing good in Math & Reading, but after joining Gideon especially those workshops made him to excel in both Math & Reading. My 9 year old has been going to Gideon fromlast four years now ..he started off when he was just around 4.5 yrs n now after almost 5 yrs tere he has literally mastered Math above his grade level. The most important part is his love for the subject n also the interest developed by the teachers in the intial stages of learning which is very crucial. Aarti and her team have been phenomenal. Gideon has worked wonders for my 7yr old. He started Gideon at the end of 1st grade and his reading level was a 14. He continued through the summer and when he started 2nd grade he was reading at a level 16. Just yesterday his 2nd grade teacher emailed me and said she decided to test his reading level again and these were her words:"At the beginning of the year, Zee was reading at a DRA level 16, which was just a little below where we hope students are at the beginning of the year and my end of year reading goal for him is to be at a level 28, which would put him right on grade level before he went onto Third Grade. I am BEYOND happy to share with you that Zee was reading at a DRA level 24 this week! I know these numbers do not always mean a whole lot, but reading at a 24 means Zee is now perfectly on grade level and has grown beyond what we would expect for middle of the year progress as well!"THANK YOU GIDEON!! We are so happy with Gideon and its staff. My 5 year old was a non reader when she started 5 months ago and now she can read and write 3 and 4 letters words easily. Just like any other parents, we were looking for the best tutoring center for our son. We visited numerous centers in the North Texas area but none were to our satisfaction. A few reasons why this center stood out:1. Aarti (Owner and Director)Most of these type of tutoring services are typically run by owners who have never been in Education. Aarti was previously a teacher at one of the most prestigious schools in Dallas area. She has strong experience in Edu and has a keen interest in your kid's success. Her first day consultation was extraordinaire. We strongly suggest parents to get that very first consultation then the rest is history. She will help you map out what needs to be done for your kid post-consultation.Often times, she also shares her experiences as parent and teacher throughout our time with her at Gideon. It has been refreshing to be able to hear her perspectives in Education and in kids in general.2. Learning material itselfWe also find the learning material itself is very engaging compared to others. Our son is a year or two advanced compared to other kids at his age on both math and reading. He started reading when he was 3.5 years old.We also strongly suggest you to start at young age and to start with both Math and Reading.There are NO other tutoring services out there that will come close to this one. Stop wasting your time looking around. It took us a while to locate this one and we sure are glad we are here now.Lastly, the most important key ingredient is also you as a parent. Aarti told us we need to sit down and do this with our kids at home. Yes, this center provides the one-on-one services as well but repetiton and practices are the key. Additionally, we got to spend more time at home with our son while he is doing this homework.Thank you Aarti and Gideon for all you have done for our family!

My son started Gideon 3 months back and I am very much impressed by the progress he has made... He has started from just knowing the sounds of letters to reading chapter books and very great progress in Math as well.Gideon has great curriculum in both Math and Reading. Aarti (owner) and the teachers are very accommodating, helpful and great with kids. My son loves to go to Gideon.Homeoworks are easy as well... 20 to 30 mins practice which develop a great routine for kids as well.

Our 8 year-old daughter has been going to the Gideon Central Frisco location at Preston and Stonebrook for the last 4 years. When Ms. Aarti opened her second location in McKinney which is closer to our home, we didn’t hesitate to move our daughter there immediately. The Gideon focus on core Math and reading fundamentals have really gone a long way in helping shape our daughter’s educational journey through school. Given our confidence in Ms. Aarti and her staff, we also enrolled our 5 year-old at the McKinney location this year. Within a few months, she has greatly improved on her reading and math skills as well. Ms. Aarti herself is a personable, available and engaged teacher and great at providing feedback and answering questions which is extremely helpful for us as parents. Meet Aarti, owner and director of Gideon Math and Reading Center in SW McKinney, TX! A proud graduate of SMU’s teaching certification program, Aarti is dedicated to providing the best math and reading programs in SW McKinney. Aarti has experience in public and private schools during her education career and knows the importance of building solid math and reading foundations. She has taken her passion for education and poured it into her learning center in SW McKinney. She also owns the Central Frisco location. She and her husband, Diwakar, have 2 children who were enrolled in the Gideon programs.

Unlock the potential of your child through our individualized math tutoring in SW McKinney. The Gideon Math program is tailored to build confidence by improving your child’s math skills step by step. With our systematic phonics in the Gideon Reading program, your child will learn to read and build literacy skills. Our reading tutoring in SW McKinney also improves comprehension and grammar. Gideon programs are designed to make school easy and go beyond grade level. We also provide special needs tutoring in SW McKinney and work with a variety of students, including autistic. All students work at their own pace.
